Welcome to the OSU X-Ray Diffraction Facilities

The Oregon State X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Facility provides services, tools, and training for XRD related work for both OSU members and outside collaborators. We strive to tackle complex problems focused on the characterization of atomic structures through judicious collection of X-Ray data.

While diffraction is the most common type of data collected in our facilities, we also have the equipment and expertise to perform total scattering experiments such as pair distribution function analysis and small angle X-Ray scattering. The wide variety of research we support demands flexibility and our facility places an emphasis on working closely with users to tailor equipment configurations to satisfy different experimental needs. Most of our instrumentation can be found in the basement floor of Gilbert Hall, though the Rigaku Synergy single crystal diffractometer is located on the 2nd floor of the Agricultural & Life Sciences Building.
